Pet loss
The grief associated with
the loss of a pet, regardless of whether the loss was expected, sudden or
constricted,
is often not understood by
those around us. People whom have
never given their heart to an animal cannot
understand the pain of losing
him or her. However, the pain felt can be as strong as that of
losing a family member or cherished friend.
There
is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.
It is called the Rainbow Bridge.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge
there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, they go to this place.
There is always food, water and warm spring weather.
Those old and frail animals
are young again.
Those who have been maimed are made whole again.
They play all day with eachother.
But there is only one thing missing.
They are not with their special person
who loved them on Earth
So, each day they run and play
until the day comes
when one suddenly stops
playing and looks up.
The nose twitches
the ears are up
the eyes are staring....
and this one suddenly
runs from the group.
You have been seen
and when you and your
special friend meet
you take him in your arms....and embrace.
Your face is kissed again, and again.
And you look once more into the eyes
of your trusting pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together
never again to be separated.
Until we meet again...
Author Paul C. Dahm

You
can shed tears that he is gone, or you can smile because he lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him,
or you can be full of the love that you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him and only that he is gone,
or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back,
or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
